µPhoto DEPLOY!

None of the Open Source web photo gallery software out there works for me. Mostly they are just ugly and clunky, too many features, too difficult to customize. I wanted the replicate the feel of my hand-written China travel photo journals with more automation. I decided today was the day.

Introducing µPhoto, a lightweight, templated photo album solution which gives you just enough, and no more. The index file can be edited by hand, which makes touch-ups, image insertions, and size changes a breeze. No database backend means easier backups and faster updates. There is no web interface for making changes; modification is based on either working in a shell environment on the server computer, or uploading via ftp. This, I think, will work just fine for people looking for the trim flexibility that I look for myself.
