Forging Nowhere (mass email 4.5)
My friend,
Has it really been two months, sixty days, one thousand four hundred forty some-odd hours since I’ve last written?
One of those months has been spent in bed. Recovering from Hepatitis. A nasty liver bug I should have been immunized against, but wasn’t. It’s passed on through contaminated water, usually, and I succumbed mid-March. The average incubation period for the virus is 28 days, which means I probably caught it while in Varanasi or Delhi. And I am still sick. It sucks.
When I’m sick, I don’t want to explore the world. I see no photo opportunities. Colors fade and become unimportant. There are so many tempting foods I can’t eat. I become uninterested in meeting people. Travel doesn’t exactly seem like a boon anymore, and homesickness increases exponentially.
The other month was spent waddling around in Rajasthan. Unfortunately not much of those experiences is in clear focus for me right now. The vast gulf of a month of weakness keeps me from recalling the vitality of those moments. As I recover (shanti shanti, I am, slowly), I will be more able to form my expression around those memories.
For now I am in New Delhi, enjoying lots of rest, fruit juice, and time in front of the computer, despite the power outages that occur four or five times a day and always threaten to wipe out my work. Next up for me is a trip to Manali Himachal Pradesh where the skies are clean and cool; I think this will be an excellent environment for my body to relax and heal in.
Please have a look at my blog-that-is-not-a-blog, relocated from LiveJournal:

The first thing I should note is that, if you have NOT been receiving my sporadic travel updates for any reason, you can find an archive of all of those slippery mass-emails here on the blog:

Of course, some of the information is outdated.
Also, if you keep a blog, please share it with me as well. I’d love to have incidental insight into what is going on with your life!
I wish you a flowering of inspiration and a wellspring of health.
Much Love,
