On The Brink

Monday, September 27th, 2004

Before the walking the plank, we have the following quotes for ya, matey:
Sean: “For being the hottest place in China, it was cold.” (Turpan)
Ian: “It’s like an ice cream headache that doesn’t go away.” (Acute Mountain Sickness)
Sean: “I’ve seen shit and animals before, so I wasn’t impressed.” (Sunday animal market)
Haw-Wen: “That’s expensive! Why don’t they […]

Whispering Wisps … What’s To Come

Last week as we were leaving Ganzi, a thread of cloud hung over the surrounding mountains. The early morning bus bumbled closer, revealing that what from a distance seemed a misty adornment was just another example of human encroachment on nature. The factory responsible for expelling the vile stuff never came into view. It must […]

Marriage And Peace

When I have a chance, I will translate the key parts of the following article, which gives an overview of the importance of 文成公主. The temple devoted to her in Yushu was inspiring indeed. Apparently the story has found its way into mainstream movies or period pieces as well, no doubt with a gaudy romantic […]

Blogging bandwagon.
Anecdotes form the core of interesting writing, even if philosophical. They are the nucleus onto which flights of fancy, poetic waxings, and generalizations of any sort glob.
First blog, not much on the mind to write about.
